Wiltshire Farmhouse
A Two Acre landscape set within the Wiltshire countryside, this farmhouse garden was reimagined through a new masterplan that brings a clear design concept and a strong sense of place.
A formal courtyard parterre sets the tone close to the house, while a new more informal garden room sits further into the landscape. The space between is designed to soften the transition of formality, with a newly enhanced journey to connect the different zones.
Taxus topiary is central to the design, used as both a defining hedge and as sculptural domes set within the lawn. Over time, these will be shaped to varying heights and widths, developing character as they mature. One dome appears to roll into the wildflower meadow beyond, with a newly planted orchard within.
The meadow will evolve gradually, with fertile green sand soil supporting species such as buttercup, vetch, sorrel, yarrow and Geranium pratense ‘Mrs Kendall Clark’. The young orchard will provide fruit for the family in its later years, while softening views of the garden room and framing views to the wider countryside.
